A call from one, a game of cards
Two plus one is crowded inside
In this night the pets are nervous
As it seems like war
Rows of trees and telephone wires
Not unlike the farms
Engines roar in the cooling night
In the glow of stores
Bone white teeth in a bartenders smile
The tiny cars are all out of clowns
It's hard to see through all the faces and breasts
There they are in the pool, drinking the water
Time lost in the glow of a screen
Until it's just no use
Friends stalking out in the weeds
Like raccoons
In the shadows sneaking away
They'll be there all night
The unknown moves itself outside
And quietly down the street
Monkeys chatter under florescent lights
In between the rides
Sometimes coffee can be thinner than water
With cheese and fries
Slippery steps in the cold with no light
The den is quiet feel around on the floor
It's not strange to sleep side by side
Eyes wide open, nothing breathes
Rolling over, it's been an hour
The sun will come up at any moment
I hear a suspicious rhythmic sound
It's just my heart, pounding in my chest
